Soviet Jews living in Brooklyn’s Brighton Beach aka "Little Odessa" believe that Pickles can help cure a bad hangover. In Mother Russia, a jar of pickle juice is a traditional hangover cure from drinking too much Kalashnikov vodka. The idea is that the salty brine will lead you to drink more water, something the body needs when it’s dehydrated. It may sound a bit far fetched, but there is some science behind it. The fermentation process of pickling creates digestive probiotics and the large quantities of salt helps replace electrolytes lost through dehydration.
